Celebrating John Muir

This is the Year of Natural Scotland and today is the first ever John Muir Day in Scotland
It is incredible what we owe to John Muir. It was his passion for conservation that helped lead the establishment of of Scotland's two national Parks and 47 National Nature Resrves which is a fitting tribute to him as it was in his native scotland that he firstfell in love with nature. He is one of America's most celebrated heroes and pioneers of conservation

Today as part of the celebrations a group of photographers , including some fellow blippers. were involved in a really interesting event at Kilmartin Glen where we had very intersting guides who helped us understand the imprtance of this are both in terms of ancient culture and the wonderful wildlife which trives in the great bog known as Moine Mhor.

led by an expert photographer we were able to explore the tiny pond creatures and use our camera to record what we saw.

Tonight's blip is of a tiny dragonfly larvae . If you look closely you can also see other really tiny pod creatures swimming round the larvae.
