Suntower

Holiday apartments that survive from the 60s or 70s, updated but still with external stairs on the side of the building. My search for old Surfers was otherwise futile.

New Surfers included HOTA, Home of the Arts, which has a tower building with a bar/cafe at the top and a permanent exhibition featuring William Robinson and, surprisingly, southerners Albert Tucker and Fred Williams who painted at Springbrook in the early 70s. My new favourite photographer had an exhibition of Surfers Paradise then (1973) and now-ish (2012-13).

Late afternoon we wheeled my mother to the Botanic Gardens, followed by a whisky in her room. She claims not to know how it got there.
