Fledged

The adult Great Spotted Woodpeckers have been going back and forth so much the last few weeks, it was obvious they had nestlings, and I've been hoping for ages that once fledged they might take them to visit.

Seems to be only one fledgling (so far?), which we saw briefly yesterday, but this morning it obligingly spent 5 minutes in a bush opposite our bedroom window.  At the moment it only seems to be the adult male that is doing the feeding, though the female has been around looking shattered. Checking my books, Woodies usually lay 4-7 eggs, and when fledged the adults can split up to look after separate young (presumably as a survival plan - they apparently have an 83% success rate of at least one fledgling to adulthood).

Bonus lunchtime Hare hide n' seek (in the extras).
