Gazebos on Ware's River Lea.

The weather as can be seen in the Blip has been glorious so a walk along the River Lee Navigation brought about the scene above.
During the day when Ware was a mail coaching town the gazebos were a refuge from the hustle and bustle of the town the Inn's built them at the end of their properties. There were at one time some forty of these gazebos with some being built back in the 16th century but sadly there are less than twenty remaining now.
Sometime ago the council invested in restorations to stop the loss of even more.
Ware was a Malting town and one of the Malt House roofs can be seen in the Blip there were many Malting in Ware and it's said that the origins of the London Porter beer were from Ware when a Maltster over roasted a batch of Malt and when it was used the beer was black it was sold cheaply to to the market porters in the city hence London Porter Ale.
