Last time we were here, there were 8 cygnets - only 7 today. Maybe that's why the parents were herding them along the river bank and making sure no-one was lagging behind.

There's not a lot to say about today. We're still catching up on last week's chores and garden jobs that need to be done before we head south next Thursday. The wind and showers aren't helping. 

But I'm happy to see that the delphiniums are just producing their flower spikes, and so far they are all standing up nice and straight. Most years I forget to stake them until they start falling over. But I watched an Irish lady on YouTube who said, most emphatically, that the trick is to 'stake them low' - I took that to mean make sure they are well supported at the base of the stems. Fingers crossed, it seems to be working.
