Big bee

Gardening this morning. Repotting an avocado, refilling the ponds, training the apple hedges, and some general tidying.

TallGirl joined me for a review of pond and insect life, and we agreed that there are more insects in our garden than in the field where she was studying insects last week. I now have a better understanding of wasps, flies, and which has which set of wings. This carpenter bee was very much enjoying the acanthus.

Lunch was very welcome after all that, and the afternoon was a mix of the weekend newspaper quizes (the FT one was particularly satisfying) office tidying and reading.

Another bbq tonight. Still v hot - 35 or so today.
