Purple Poppies

I did nothing of note during the morning except cook an early lunch.

The afternoon was spent at the local u3a Photography Group where B, one of the members, gave an interesting talk, with a great many pictures of wildlife. It was not wildlife that I would find in my back garden, but pictures taken when he and his wife travelled to Canada and America for their many holidays driving around photographing and identifying wildlife. After refreshments, we looked at, and commented on, photographs that members had submitted of wildlife taken in May this year.

Today’s picture is of some purple poppies, which I have never seen growing in this part, or any part of the garden before. They are flowering where some of the conifers were pruned and the ground has been left to go wild due to lack of mowing. It looks as though there are plenty of seed heads too, so more next year. I will also collect some of the seeds to sow in other parts of the garden.

The temperature today at noon today was nineteen degrees Celsius.
