My favourite local animal

There is something really captivating about hares. Whether it is because  I find them so difficult to photograph in the wild , or their speed or their eyes, I just find them beautiful animals. And I am very lucky to know several places where there are hares, very near home. I love their ability to keep incredibly  still so that you can creep up on them and as in this photograph seem both unaware and yet totally vigilant so that when they feel you are too near they take off at incredible speed. 
A truly wild and beautiful animal.
