23:35 - Midnight approaches

After visiting Lonny and Karin for a delightful dinner we set of for home a bit after 11 o'clock. The sun had gone down but it was still very light and whenever we stopped the car we could hear the birds giving us their dusk/dawn chorus in full voice. The air was warm and there was only the mildest of breezes.
A crop of large hungry mosquitoes that appeared anywhere really sheltered showed us this wasn't paradise, but on this beach that mild breeze seemed enough to hold them at bay.
In the far distance the silhouette of Sandö bridge (extra) showed how clear the air was and pointing the camera away from the hidden sun, along the beach, showed how light it was (extra).
Unsurprisingly Jan also blipped with a picture of the same scene from a slightly higher viewpoint.
The rest of the world seemed to be asleep and there was no traffic on the small road. Those birds provided the only soundtrack to our experience.
We looked and enjoyed for a while but our beds were also calling so we drove home across the High coast bridge. In a lay-by a bit further along the small road a camper van was parked, the occupants seemingly asleep. Perhaps we'll return for a night here another night.
These slightly magical experiences are why we love living here.
