Why Chopin?

Lady Passer By - Why is there a statue of Chopin in Manchester?

Me (shrugs shoulders) - I haven't a clue, there's one of Gandhi by the cathedral.

LPB - Mahatma?, I think he visited Manchester, maybe Chopin did as well, I'll have to check that out.

Me - Well I am visiting Manchester, but there's no statue of me.

(For the record, checking afterwards, Chopin didn't visit, it was erected during Poland's Presidency of the EU to celebrate the growing Polish community in Manchester.)
