Windy Kirkwall

I had a walk in the hills of Orphir earlier in the day but the rain and wind was extreme and I didn't really take many shots. I walked up Rams Dale then across to Gruf Hill and down the Scorradale road. Near the bottom of the road I passed an old school which figured largely in a film made in 1939 called The Spy in Black with Conrad Veidt and Valerie Hobson. It was made by Powell and Pressburger and based on a novel by an Orcadian writer called J. Storer Clouston. A pretty good old movie, worth watching.

This shot was later on in Kirkwall. A child out of shot had the bicycle- hence the helmet.
