Pond Life and More

I was truly in my element this morning as I skulked through our Bog with my camera.  Amphibians were jumping in every direction. And a resident mammal, our Elder Dog Maica, was enjoying the coolness of the Bog. See today's *extra...
Next to the Bog I found a Rainbow Scarab Beetle. It's a North American  dung beetle that can be found from the eastern U.S. to the Rocky Mountains. This is a male, you can tell that by his black horn which curves backward toward his thorax. Mr. Beetle was busy rolling a 'poop log' over to a hole he had dug, for a later meal I assume. ;)
