Scone

We spent several very enjoyable hours exploring the grounds of Scone (pronounced “scoon “ to rhyme with soon) Palace. The trees were even more wonderful than the ones we saw in Camperdown Park on Monday. There were magnificent giants from all over the world, brought back as seeds by David Douglas, the early 19th century Scottish botanist who was born in Scone.
We saw and found out a real mixture of interesting historical information, both ancient and more modern, but too much to go into here, except to say that this is where the medieval king of Scotland were enthroned.
My photo shows an ancient archway with the modern palace beyond.
