King William Cottage

On 5 November 1688 William, the Prince of Orange sailed into Brixham Harbour, with an army of 15,400 men. William was invited by the Gentlemen of the West and was a champion of the Protestant faith. The next day the army marched to Exeter and the Prince is said to have been given lunch here. It is in the Yalberton area of Paignton and we passed it on a walk to the glorious village of Stoke Gabriel. Further on towards Totnes is the house he held his first Parliament, and no doubt other claims to fame.
