Spot The Birdie

We had a relaxed day out to Dunbar, via Smeaton Nurseries for coffee. Here we shared a table with a hen and cock chaffinch and a somewhat bedraggled great tit, scavenging for crumbs from Mr Flum's scone. Other tables had their share of avian visitors but the extra intrigued us - a great tit eating from an empty butter wrapper, eventually flying away with one.

We moved on and pottered on the shore at Barns Ness for some time, watching gulls surround a small fishing boat, a flock of young starlings feeding among the seaweed and, on our way back, this skylark, which appears to be poised for a feed.

The weather remained warm but rain began as we drove home, so we had the best of the day.
