Cathaber

Willow, willow

But not, in this case, the cat next door. What we called pussy willow when we were children is, I think, goat willow. The Woodland Trust says the catkins should flower between January and March, but we all know why they didn't do that this year.

I saw this down in Burrington Coombe in the Mendips, where we had a lovely walk today with our Bristol friends A and J. In my defence, let me say that I played no part in the mapreading!

There's an English folk song called Willow, willow which was set by the maverick Australian composer Percy Grainger.
