Heather comes Home

Spring had been busy in Carnoustie as activities slowly returned to pre Pandemic levels. As we prepared for our long planned trip to Namibia, our days were filled with Cycling, Yoga, Boat Building, Tennis, Tree Felling, Dog Walking, Grandchild Sitting and of course the occasional weekend trip to Dubai for Josh and Julia’s wedding. We had one last thing to do before heading to Edinburgh Airport: a Balerno lunch with favourite niece Heather and her partner Anis. Hearing how she survived the 19hr flight from Auckland reassured us and put our 11.5hr flight to Cape Town in to perspective. We knew that we had a night of travelling ahead of us and we merrily checked our luggage all the way from Edinburgh to Victoria Falls happy in the knowledge that if our bags didn’t make the tight turn around at Heathrow we wouldn’t know of the problem until we arrived in Victoria Falls 48hrs later and would have spent our 24hrs in Cape Town in a happy state of blissful ignorance.
