Oakbank

Geocaching today around the outskirts of Livingston. This derelict area was a village in the 1860s to provide accommodation for the workers at the adjacent Oakbank Oil Works and grew to more than 100 homes (that looked like this) There was also a village hall, school, football pitch and bowling green. It declined following the closure of the oil-shale works in 1932 and was progressively demolished between the 1950s and 1980s. The bowling green and football pitch remain.
