remembering…

…daddy

on a father’s day

when he’s no longer here

however that doesn’t - mean i cannot - remember or celebrate - or rejoice in who he was - and what he - gave me and my - siblings for the 75 years - he was on this planet - and for the duration - of time he was - a daddy to us

i think sometimes people - believe once a person - dies that that’s the - end of their life - there’s no more - to celebrate or recall and - days like today - should simply pass by - with no thought given - to what those individuals - gave to make it special - for those left behind

but as with anything - those left need to - place value on the life - of the individual - because it was a good life - sure there were bumps - along the way - there always are within - any family circle - however despite that - daddy left a legacy - of 6 highly intelligent - kiddos behind who all - get along together - remain in very close - contact with each other - which can be very - unusual these days - and reflect the character attributes - he raised us to live by - of loyalty, trustworthiness - respect, loving each other - and our neighbors - going the extra mile - in good times and bad - and so much more

beneath a gruff exterior - he was a gentle - teddy bear of a soul - that i continue to miss - even after almost 15 years - but on a day like - today my wonderful memories - of him override - the sadness due to - the joy seeping out - of my heart because - of the man he was - because he was my daddy - and i get to say - ‘happy dad’s day’ for - all the fabulous times - he gave to me - and how they have led to…

a

happy day.....
