The torrential rain put paid to our picnic on the lawns of Kilworth House Hotel and Theatre but we went to the outdoor theatre performance with macs and brollies.

Unfortunately 20 minutes in it was stopped as one of the singers had slipped in the water and it was all hands to the pumps as the stage was swept and dried the best they could and made safe. Water was cascading in torrents from the canvas roof and 25 minutes later the show restarted.

It was not uneventful as electrics crackled, light bulbs popped and one of the huge floodlights high up at the side of the stage exploded! Men were valiantly trying to keep the stage dry and the entrances onto the stage free from water.

The finale of, 'When you walk through a storm ...' accompanied by torrents of rain coming down in sheets was suddenly drowned out by a huge explosion of fireworks overhead from the wedding party at the house! The timings were all out of kilter because of the show delay. I think most of us honestly found all this hugely entertaining as you couldn't make it up and got the giggles as did the cast who were valiantly trying to sing through the mayhem.
