Barley

Weirdly, there are several large patches of barley growing in my local park. It was my niece who first noticed this a year or so ago when she came to visit. And, sure enough, they've come up again this year. I can only assume they're the result of people feeding the birds in the past, which has not been eaten, has grown and continued to seed each year. There are several quite large patches in the areas where the grass has not been mown. It is certainly not something I've noticed anywhere else, but quite a nice and interesting addition to the grass, I think!
