Africa Oyé, Day 2

Day 2 of Africa Oyé had another great line-up, and I thoroughly enjoyed performances by Valérie Ekoumè (France/Cameroon), the legendary Kanda Bongo Man (DR Congo), Tabanka Djaz (Guinea-Bissau), Santrofi (Ghana), and headliner Oumou Sangaré (Mali).

Sangaré is a veritable superstar and her current album, ‘Timbuktu’, has garnered rave reviews globally. Here, from that album, is ‘Wassulu Don’ www.youtube.com/watch?v=tulfimCd6JE

It’s not often that I Blip two Grammy Award winning musicians in one weekend - which speaks volumes for the work of everyone who works so hard to keep Africa Oyé free and fabulous; not least Artistic Director, Paul Duhaney, who I’ve included in the Extras along with more of the musicians and a crowd scene which conveys the general atmosphere of the festival!
