Bee life

I've discovered a ground hive in the middle of the grass path which runs over the new drainage that went in two years ago for the wet room.

The drama today was finding a queen (I assume - blurry extras) outside the hive. A bit of a Springwatch/Attenborough moment.

2nd extra with specs for scale but the bee had tucked her abdomen under so it mat not help. I'd be interested to know what type of bees they are.

We have more bees in the garden this year than I ever remember seeing.
