Hot

Too hot today. I did some cleaning of bathrooms in the morning and got all the towels washed and dried very quickly. Then it became so hot that I retreated inside to the coolest part of the house and read. By the evening it got very dark and then we had rain.

It was even too warm for sewing, but I did complete these two: Postcards 23 and 24 (nearly halfway through the year!). The one with all the knots took a bit of doing - using a variegated stranded thread I worked French knots first with six strands, then five and so on. Very effective. The rosette was made using circles of fabric, folded and tacked down.

The filled in bridge
People may have read about this, but if not I can update. Just under a year ago I posted this - the old railway bridge at Musgrave infilled with cement by Highways England - as a 'safety measure'. Such has been the outcry about this that Eden Council eventually refused retrospective planning permission and the cement will have to be removed. Good for Eden. It is important because this was obviously the first one of many infillings that were likely to have taken place all over the country. Now Highways England have said that this will not be the first course of action in the future.
