National Waterways Museum

Three miles down the road from the site we reached the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port where we spent a very interesting afternoon. The staff (many of whom were volunteers) were so enthusiastic and knowledgable that the time flew by as we explored the narrow boats, barges, exhibitions and porters houses. Some of the boats in the restoration area looked as though they would never sail again, but judging by the work that was going on there we are sure they will.
