From Danby Beacon

Perfect day- ( not just the political news although I was awake early ! ) Managed to pack up a picnic and be down at Runswick Bay by 9:0am !
The sea was coming in and it was glorious! The cafe on the beach was actually open ( it’s always closed by the time we come in October!) - so a long coffee enjoying the view then a walk along the shoreline paddling our toes ! Lots of entertainment with enthusiastic people blowing up kayaks and letting their Labrador complete with life jacket join in the fun too !
We ate our lunch perched on the stone breakwater but eventually it was far too hot . We had another cuppa on the terrace of the cafe then escaped to Egton Bridge on the River Esk where it was green, leafy and peaceful until the rain came thumping down. We sat under umbrellas as the coolness was so welcome !
Next, we went Whitby as I’d booked a table at the Magpie Cafe . Then a wander along the harbour - the sun had returned.
Out of interest, it’s now 40p to go to the loo in Whitby !
Finally a stroll on the beach at Sandsend and a view from Danby Beacon across the moor .
Throughout the day , the friendliness and kindness of Yorkshire folk had been so much in evidence- I do love it up here !
