Cousins

As kids Roo and I were a mischievous pair. Our mothers were sisters and took turns at hosting the others youngest for a week of the school holidays.

We built low to the ground trolleys and raced them at high speed down steep Wellington streets. I shudder that we rummaged for used syringes in the medical rubbish, snapped off the needles, rinsed the plunger, and used them as water pistols.

Bikes and skateboards were in the mix, and we knew every skit from Monty Pythons Flying Circus. I confess we terrorised Phoebe, my aunts cat.

We're still great mates. We still ride bikes and struggle to sit still for any length of time. Whatever sugary drinks we were into back in the 70s,has been replaced by water, coffee, and craft beer.

It's been a great weekend.

Today's gratitude: For being part of Andrew and Avril's family.
