... and a huge slug.

This is a leopard slug (Limax maximus).  I found this one in the wormery this morning.  About 10 cm long and fatter than my thumb.  The biggest slug I have ever seen, but apparently it's a goody and only eats decaying plants and, even better, other slugs!!  So it is off to the compost bin, just in case it develops a taste for worms, rather than being fed to the chickens.
Weird fact: it has been known to pursue other slugs at a top speed of 15 centimetres per minute (nicked from Wikipedia).
