Curry

Today’s the day we headed back to look at a property we had previously seen on 5th March. It has been nicely refurbished, so it’s ready to move into, and has a view of the sea if you’re standing looking out of the windows.  It’s above an unused shop-showroom with plenty of car parking underneath. We wanted to take a second look and because it’s quite central in Ryde we wanted to get an idea about how busy or noisy it might be in an evening. So we thought we’d spend a day in Ryde.

As with most things across the island we needed to change at Newport bus station. We took the opportunity to have a wander around because the weather was so much nicer than yesterday. We has lunch in the square at the Blue Door cafe.  I wasn’t that hungry but I couldn’t resist trying to South African ‘Bunny Chow’ which is curry inside a scooped out bloomer.  I was worried I may have over-faced myself when the staff checked I was hungry enough for it but, as it turned out, it was manageable. It was lovely to be able to sit in the sun but I think something lighter might have been better.

We took the bus to Ryde for about 2:30pm which was quite a while before our scheduled appointment but it was great to be able wander round in the sunshine.

we took another look at the property and will think about it some more. Later, took a little walk and went for drink in the Ryde Castle Hotel to discuss our options until about 6pm when we had dinner at Ryde Thai. We had a meal here last year when we were in Ryde and the food is excellent. We managed to while away a few hours, mainly talking about what it would be like to live on the island, before we headed for the bus back to Newport that left just after 8pm.

It’s only half an hour back and so, when we got to Newport, we had time to kill until the connection and the only place we could find of a coffee was Mcdonalds but the coffee was OK and we took the bus on the 45 minute journey back.
