Victorian Hebridean post box in a rock

This is the post box closest to our bed and breakfast. I love it. Where else would you find a piece of Victorian ironmongery forged into a rock to facilitate communications with the rest of the world? Note also the stopper in the mouth of the box to protect the mail from the elements.

I photographed the post box on our one and only trip out today. We have mainly stayed indoors due to high winds and driving rain. We thought that we had identified a dry gap at lunchtime for our walk, and all was well when we first set out. However, it wasn't long before another cloud burst and we both took an absolute soaking. We are very grateful to our understanding hosts who took all our wet clothes from us to dry in their warm kitchen, and have made their house very comfortable for guests on wet weather days.

Thank you for your best wishes re Mr hazelh's toothache. It is no better. We may have to dash back to Edinburgh in the middle of our holiday to see the dentist. The alternative is to wait for his next appointment on 18th July...

The Scrabble score is now 3-3.

Exercise today: none apart from a short, wet walk.
