Portsmouth

Today was a bit of a whirlwind. We took the 9:15am Fast Cat from Portsmouth Harbour that got us into Ryde at 9:45am. A quick breakfast baguette at French Franks before a walk to our first viewing on Monkton Street: the a flat nearer the seafront and, finally, a viewing near the flat we saw last week. Then a few trains back towards London.

By 6:45pm we were having a glass of wine in Browns on Saint Martins Lane, back in the City where we met some friends. By 8pm we were at the Ambassadors theatre to see Jonathan Bailey playing John in the love triangle story, Cock. Taron Egerton was supposed to play M but had pulled out because he’s contracted COVID. Joel Harper-Jackson, who understudied on the first night when Taron fainted, stepped in again.  PY and I had never seen the play before but our friends had. I think they were a little disappointed by the humour and the minimalist staging. I though it was great.

Dinner was at The Ivy Soho Brasserie. We met Phil there during one of the lockdowns that permitted outdoor dining: back then it was freezing. Tonight was indoors and much more comfortable.
