Grand day out!

Thanks to one of Blipper Mambo’s blips we discovered the Dalesbus service from Keighley to Pateley Bridge.  The morning didn’t start off well when the bus from the village was cancelled so we had to ring for a taxi which then took longer than expected and then waited in the wrong place!  As we reached Bingley the road was clear, but as we got out of the taxi we saw the bus about to pass us.  We ran and thankfully he saw us and waited.  A lovely friendly driver - very steady and careful on the country roads and a journey through incredible scenery.  We left the bus at Coldstones Cut and walked up the hill to see the art installation.  It was soooooo windy up there - could hardly hold the camera still!  Collage in extras too.   We then walked down to Pateley Bridge.  Not having found a recommended footpath we walked down the road - narrow and rather dodgy with fast cars and camper vans and not much of a verge.  Still, we made it and had a nice lunch in a cafe off the Main Street. We had a look up and down the Main Street and then went on the riverside walk which forms part of the Nidderdale Way (a collage in extras).  A lovely warm afternoon so we bought a Brymor’s ice cream and sat by the bowling green for a while.  Time for the bus, and chatted to other passengers before the lovely scenic journey back home.  Arrived just a few minutes before our connecting bus back to the village so all worked well.  Thoroughly enjoyable day out.
