Swelltor Quarry

Parts of Dartmoor are heavily scarred by quarring activity. Most of the quarries though are now closed and have been reclaimed by nature. This is Swelltor quarry after this morning's rain. I have mixed feelings about the effects of human activity on the landscape, and much of Dartmoor would look very different if it was not for the changes made by human activity over literally thousands of years. I find these windswept quarries very atmospheric and enjoy discovering the tracks and paths created by the people who worked the surrounding landscape.
A late addition is the extra that shows the old "Office" building.
