Cottongrass

Seedheads of Common Cottongrass or Common Cottonsedge (Eriophorum angustifolium) making a spectacular display in a moist hollow on Ashdown Forest, close to the south eastern perimeter of the enclave of Old Lodge.

Today's 'Extra' shows the view from higher up: the clump of Cottongrass is visible to the right of a cluster of pine trees, below the landmark of Friends Clump in the centre of the picture on the near horizon.
