Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy

This morning we left Richmond and drove to Picton.   The sunrise was a  vivid red line low on the horizon.  There was frost on some of shady corners but really it was a lovely drive seeing the mist in the valleys and the sun light on the neatly pruned vineyards.  The ferry left early which suited us and there were not many passengers and it was a pleasant, calm trip.   Our sons house is only a ten minute drive from the ferry which is convenient for us.   We had a lovely visit and Finn seems so be more grown up since we saw him at Christmas.  He has a lot of words and can play his animal matching game I gave him for his birthday.  He loves books which is no surprise but still pleases me.  His Mum gets top marks for giving me  a painting Finn had made.  It has a pleasing range of pastel colours and he had brushed lines and I thought that was well done and not just splashing the paint anywhere.  I will find a   place to display it when I am back home.
In the early evening we left to continue our journey to Riversdale in the Wairarapa.   We have been here before and house sat for friends.  In fact we were here in March when Covid broke and everyone was scrambling to return home including us.

Beautiful Boy    John Lennon

Close your eyes
Have no fear
The monster's gone
He's on the run
And your daddy's here

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy

Before you go to sleep
Say a little prayer
Every day, in every way
It's getting better and better

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy

Out on the ocean, sailing away
I can hardly wait
To see you come of age
But I guess we'll both just have to be patient

'Cause it's a long way to go
A hard row to hoe
Yes, it's a long way to go
But in the meantime

Before you cross the street
Take my hand
Life is what happens to you
While you're busy making other plans

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy . . .
