The Glorious Dead

In memory of the men and boys of the village of Blackrod who perished in The Great War. The village is on a hill overlooking the town of Horwich and the Pennine Moors beyond. Rivington Pike is the hill in the distance with its stone tower. These lads would have known this view intimately, they would have gone to the fair on Good Friday with their pals and enjoyed the fun of youth. Their lives were short but they're still remembered and its fitting that they have the best view in the village - lest we forget : )
