Iron Slitting

This is the site of the old iron slitting mill at Stanley Bank, near St Helens. Built in 1773 the mill turned ingots of iron into metal bars that were then used to make nails. Looking at how red the soil is around the banks of the river, I'd guess there's still a fair amount of iron ore around.

I wrote a review of the Nokia Lumia 920 on my blog the other day. Worth a read if you're killing time.
