Ferry, tugs and lifeboats

On Tuesday afternoon the Alfred, the ferry which comes into St Margaret's Hope, went aground on the island of Swona.

Lottie and I were walking round the cliffs and I saw the lifeboats, one from Longhope and one from Thurso, accompanying the Alfred towards the Hope. Thankfully, although there were 97 people on board, no one were seriously injured although quite a few were evacuated onto the lifeboats. Some of the vehicles on board had a few bumps and, as someone put it, were a little shorter front and back, than they were.

No more sailings on this route until the 18th of the month, so a lot of disruption. Luckily there is another ferry route, which is putting on extra sailings.
