Getting to Kilkenny

I had a couple of medical appointments, so it was the middle of the day before we got into Carl’s new-to-him car and headed off for our Kilkenny stay.

We’d already planned a food stop along the way and we’re delighted that we’d chosen The Green Barn, near Athy.  A fabulous place, complete with sculpture trail which we’ll return to explore.  The food was excellent, the surroundings are perfect, the service was top-notch. Definitely to be recommended.

We spent more time there than originally intended, so were a bit rushed getting to know the house we’re staying in and getting a taxi in to town for our pre-booked meal in Indique restaurant. We’d intended a mere coffee stop in The Green Barn but ended up eating too much so just had a main course each and a shared bowl of rice in Indique. The night ended in Lanigan’s bar for one (ran away when the too-loud live music started) and then Matt the Miller for more than one. All in all, a great start to our Kilkenny adventure.
