Pop Pea Pod

Podding, or shelling  peas during the summers was a routine of my childhood. There was often a delightful 'pop' when the end of the pod furthest from the stem was squeezed, the pod was then opened and the peas removed. Easy!

But peas may have changed through  plant breeding, and this year that method has not worked, leading to difficulty in opening pods.

Trial and error lead to changing ends, breaking the stem end and peeling down the 'string' on the concave side.  A slight squeeze on this end enabled the opening of the pod.  If only I had started with Youtube,, I would not have had to re-invent this wheel.
