Black Lives Matter Zen Garden

Heart of Wisdom Zen Temple started a little memorial in 2020 during the Black Lives Matter protests following the death of George Floyd. Sue and I painted a number of rocks with the names of Black people killed by police to donate to their garden. Today the memorial garden has grown from a couple of signs and some rocks and a Buddha, to a whole rock garden, a new cement stairway, and some carefully-chosen plants indigenous to this area. 

Today is the seventh anniversary of the death of Sandra Bland in custody in Waller County Jail, Texas. We have not forgotten her. We say her name.  Extra is a detail from the main.
