White campion at Whitesands near Dunbar.  Even though it is school holidays and the height of summer, there were only about ten people on the beach when the tide was almost in after we returned from walking past Barns Ness lighthouse to Skateraw.  It was probably a contrast to many beaches in the south of England where the temperature was about ten degrees higher and the sea warmer.  But perhaps few of the beaches have so many different wild flowers close nearby.  I counted 41 different flowers with many of them growing among an outcrop of limestone and providing sustenance for butterflies.
