San Francisco baby

Up at just before 5 to finish the packing and get the bags loaded into the car. Made it to the airport with only a couple of minor moments of panic and we were at bag drop 10 minutes after parking the car. Somehow 2 of the 3 cases were overweight so there was a bit of shuffling to be done before we could get to security.

Quite long queues but we’d pre booked a skit in the queue which basically meant the same as fast track in the uk but this didn’t cost any money.

We had time to eat breakfast before boarding the flight. Susan’s seat was changed last night to the row behind but we decided to appeal to the person who had been moved into her seat so we could sit together. However the other person was a no-show so there was no issue.

Arrived in San Francisco a little late and met up with Kenny and Jenny at baggage claim. Collected the bags and got a taxi to our hotel just off Union square. We obviously undertipped the taxi driver as he was muttering about the price of gas, our mistake.

Left the cases with the concierge and headed to a nearby diner for late lunch/early dinner before unpacking and showering before meeting for drinks in the bar at the top of the hotel on the 39th floor. Lovely views and our waitresses topped us the wink for a window seat. We asked her advice on things to do and places to go and walked 10 minutes round the corner to a wee bar called Tempest, great music, cheap drinks (although almost anywhere other than the hotel bar would have been cheap) and just your typical neighbourhood bar. As we were all quite tired we didn’t stay out late.
