Comfort zone

Something has happened between Charlie and Ottawacker Jr. It’s as if a barrier has come down and she is no longer terrified of him. We used to get our first sight of her as he went to bed – but as he gets older and we can no longer justify sending him to bed at 7.30 – that started to mean we weren’t seeing her a lot. And I think she realized she had to make concessions too. So down she came, sitting away from us and watching him very, very closely.

Now, she seems quite comfortable around him and has even jumped up on his lap a couple of times. And when we brought in his booster seat from the car – he has reached the required 4’9” to be allowed to sit in a car without it – she ran straight to it and made herself comfortable.
Ottawacker Jr. was in the final day of his camp at the Rideau Sports Centre. He even won the award of “Most Sportsmanlike Participant”. I was shocked. In fact, anyone who has played Scrabble with his would be too. But Mrs. Ottawacker confirmed it at dinner, so I take my hat off to him.

More work required, obviously.
