The Creel Loaders

This 6 foot sandstone sculpture by local artist and stonemason Gardner Molloy was unveiled in Dunbar on 9th August 2016.  It depicts the part played by the fisherwomen of Dunbar during the time of the Herring industry there.  They baited the fishing lines and then carried and sold the catch loaded in the wicker creels on their backs in the town and as far afield as Lauder using the Old Herring Route through the Lammermuir Hills.
