Today I visited the Leuhunkoski dam, the building of which caused a "rapids war" resultin 60 years ago to a court decision where for the first time in Finland a riverside family was to be paid compensation for loss of river view and the esthetic value of the rapids. This case is today regarded as a historical victory for the environmentalists and it has affected numerous similar court cases since. The blip is taken from to top of the dam upstream.
