Blackbird ( Turdus merula )

Owing to the heat which here peaked at 31.3°C we stayed indoors with the doors and windows shut, as per the advice from the medics.  It worked the house did get hotter but nowhere near the 31° outside.

I did go out into the garden to try for some flower blips.  Somebody out there is thinking "that's not a flower"!  I know but when a bird chooses to come and pose for you it would be rude not to use it.  As I wandered round this young blackbird came out of the hedge and foraged up and down within 2m (6') of me.

Blackbirds are fortunately of no conservation concern and are spread all over the UK apart from a few very remote parts of north west Scotland.
