Hot!

Good day. Started early making tiramisu, then coffee with LE….she seemed really nice and a potential pal for social stuff too. Nipped into the office for chats with LJ and LL, but all pretty low key, then home in baking heat (we’ll, 31 degrees, which is less than others are coping with but way too much for here!,). Spent the afternoon juggling between my last Chair interview (mercifully straightforward) and cooking for book group. Collected A and she went into gear making pasta and generally helping prepare….all a bit of a rush but we did it! With iced drinks and the fan on we managed the evening. More people than I expected had tackled The Name of the Rose and indeed had either finished it or were intending to, but we didn’t discuss it that much and instead chatted as usual about everything under the sun as we ate Italian style (but not monastery style given the unpalatable food mentioned in the book!). This was the secondi….salt baked chicken with salsa verde, rosemary roast potatoes, fennel and roast grape Ottolenghi salad and asparagus, rocket and Parmesan salad. Of course having made it I couldn’t taste a thing, but it was a very jolly talkative evening…everyone on good form
