Crystal clear

A hot day surveying the Whitewater Valley CWS - the shade of the woodland was counterbalanced by the high humidity of reed and nettle dominated vegetation.

At times, the urge to jump into the crystal clear waters of this spring-fed watercourse was almost overwhelming. The sound of the water trickling over tufa barrages, formed where calcium carbonate has been deposited on fallen branches, was surprisingly cooling.
