TT 373.......minute mosses

I saw the sunlight shining on this patch of moss on a branch of a eucalypt tree. Out with the macro lens and voila! 

I was amazed at how the bases of these mossy filaments looked almost luminescent . Fascinating. They could almost be aliens!

I'm adding another image in extras. It looks as though some of them are ready to pop their tops to spread spores (if that's what they do).
